DOORS
Doors are treated here not as objects, but as architectural moments.
They mark transition — between public and private, exterior and interior, movement and pause.
Each is developed as a site-specific work, shaped by the scale of the building, the material language of the architecture, and how the threshold is meant to be experienced.
The carving is not applied.
It is integral.
These doors are conceived for contemporary buildings where restraint is valued and expression is deliberate.
Rather than competing with architecture, the work concentrates meaning into a single surface — allowing one element to carry emotional weight without excess elsewhere. The result is a quiet presence that reveals itself over time.
Material choice, proportion, and carving depth are determined in relation to light, approach, and daily use.
Each door is made to endure.
Materials commonly include western red cedar, hardwoods, and site-appropriate species selected for longevity and weathering characteristics.
All work is hand-carved and developed in direct dialogue with architects and clients.
Every commission begins with a simple question:
What should this threshold communicate?
Some doors are intended to signal arrival.
Others are meant to recede — becoming felt rather than noticed.
In each case, the carving serves the role of the door within the building, not the reverse.
