Mapleview Door

Painted Pine, Art Glass

Ontario

Developed for a home overlooking Southern Georgian Bay, this hand-carved entrance draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Arched forms echo the canopy of heritage apple trees, while maple leaves and coloured glass respond to the shifting light, creating a quiet dialogue between architecture and place.

Origin

Inspired by the orchard landscapes and maple forests of the region, the work responds not to a specific view, but to the character of the place itself—its light, seasons, and enduring connection to the land.

Making

Hand-carved in painted pine, the entrance combines relief carving with clear and coloured water glass. As daylight changes throughout the day, shadow, reflection, and colour become part of the composition.
